Worth knowing what you are starting from here. 888's own VIP Club is the least generous loyalty scheme of any room on this site. It runs to thousands of levels and the return at ordinary volume sits in single digits, which is unusual in a market where most rooms advertise ceilings several times higher.
What 888poker's own rewards give you
A VIP Club with an enormous number of levels and a return that climbs slowly through them. There are regular promotions and freeroll access alongside it, and the welcome bonus releases in pieces as you generate rake rather than arriving whole.
The scheme is also hard to read. Working out what you are actually on requires more effort than it should, and that opacity is a fair criticism of the room rather than a detail.
The games
888poker is independent, holds a Maltese licence, and is one of the older brands still operating. Traffic sits in the high hundreds at ordinary hours and rises into the low thousands at peak, which is mid-sized rather than large.
Hold'em carries the room across the full stakes range, from micro to high. Omaha runs but thinly. Snap is the fast-fold game and BLAST is the three-handed hyper-turbo, both with reasonable volume.
The client covers Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and the browser.
The reason to consider 888 over a bigger room is the tracker policy. Holdem Manager, PokerTracker, Hand2Note and DriveHUD are all permitted. Very few rooms of this size still allow that, and if your study process runs on your own database it is worth a lot.
The Maltese licence is the second reason. It is a real regulator with a complaints route, which is not true of most rooms on this site.
What to know before you deposit
The rakeback is poor and that is the headline caveat. A room with weak loyalty returns needs to be beating the alternatives on game quality to be worth your volume, and 888's traffic has been shrinking rather than growing.
Omaha players should look elsewhere. Customer service has a poor reputation. And the VIP scheme's opacity means you should not assume you are on a good rate just because you have been playing a while.
Deposits and withdrawals
Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller, ecoPayz and WebMoney, with limits running from around ten dollars up into five figures. Verification is required and the Maltese licence means it is applied properly rather than by risk.
Common questions about 888poker
- Can I use a HUD on 888poker?
- Yes. Holdem Manager, PokerTracker, Hand2Note and DriveHUD are all permitted, which puts 888 in a small group of large rooms that still allow it.
- Why is 888poker's rakeback so low?
- Its VIP Club runs to thousands of levels and the return at ordinary volume sits in single digits. It is the least generous loyalty scheme of any room on this site, and worth knowing before you compare it on traffic alone.
- Is 888poker properly regulated?
- It holds a Maltese licence, which is a genuine regulator with a complaints process behind it. That is a meaningful difference from the offshore licences most rooms on this site hold.
- Is 888poker good for Omaha?
- No. Hold'em carries the room and Omaha traffic is thin. Treat it as a Hold'em site.
- How do I get a deal at 888poker?
- Sign up through the link on this page. It tracks. Message me on Discord if you have questions.
New to this? What is rakeback and how does it workexplains how rake is charged, why a single percentage is almost always misleading, and what to ask before you compare two offers.
